1. How Assessments Work
LinguaPath assessments are automatically graded by our system. There is no human examiner involved in the grading process. This allows us to provide:
- Instant Results: Know your score immediately after submission
- Consistent Grading: Every answer is evaluated against the same criteria
- 24/7 Availability: Take assessments whenever suits you
- Detailed Feedback: See which answers were correct and why
2. Passing Requirements
- 70% or higher: Pass the level and unlock the next level
- 80% or higher: Pass and receive a certificate for that level
- Below 70%: You must wait 24 hours before retaking the assessment
3. Assessment Format
Each level assessment includes:
- Multiple choice questions
- Fill-in-the-blank exercises
- Sentence completion tasks
- Reading comprehension (higher levels)
- Grammar and vocabulary questions
Questions are randomised from a question bank, so repeat attempts will have different questions.
4. Cheating Prevention
To maintain the integrity of our assessments, we implement:
- Answer Hashing: Answers are cryptographically hashed to prevent tampering
- Rate Limiting: You cannot submit answers faster than reasonably possible
- Session Monitoring: Unusual patterns (e.g., switching tabs extensively) may be flagged
- Cooldown Period: 24-hour wait between failed attempts prevents brute-force testing
Consequences of Cheating: If we detect cheating, your assessment will be invalidated, any certificates may be revoked, and your account may be suspended.
5. Prohibited Conduct During Assessments
You may NOT:
- Use external resources (websites, books, translation tools) to look up answers
- Have another person take the assessment on your behalf
- Share assessment questions or answers with others
- Use automated tools or scripts to complete the assessment
- Take screenshots or record assessment content for sharing
6. Disputes & Appeals
If you believe an assessment was incorrectly graded due to a technical error, you may contact us at support@linguapath.co.uk.
What qualifies as a technical error:
- The system crashed during your assessment
- Your answers were not saved due to a server error
- A question displayed incorrectly (missing text, broken formatting)
- The grading system had a verified bug
What does NOT qualify for appeal:
- Disagreement with correct answers (our answers are based on British English standards)
- Claiming you "meant" to select a different answer
- Internet connectivity issues on your end
- Running out of time
- Personal circumstances (being tired, distracted, etc.)
Appeals are reviewed at LinguaPath's sole discretion. We may require evidence of the technical issue (screenshots, error messages, timestamps).
7. Retaking Assessments
- If you fail (below 70%), you must wait 24 hours before retaking
- There is no limit to the number of times you can retake an assessment
- Each attempt is graded independently
- Your highest score is recorded for certificate purposes
8. Score Recording
All assessment attempts are recorded in your learning history. Your portfolio shows:
- Date and time of each attempt
- Score achieved
- Pass/fail status
- Certificate earned (if applicable)
